Be a Volunteer

Volunteer Driver and Rider celebrate 100 rides in the Door to Door ProgramHelp our Seniors stay on the Island
Providing rides for those that are unable to drive themselves maintains the Island tradition of neighbors helping each other.

We’ve got you covered
Volunteer drivers are provided with additional insurance typically above standard personal auto insurance limits as well as general liability coverage when volunteering. If you’re already providing rides for a friend or neighbor, the extra insurance is a great reason to provide the rides through Orcas Door to Door. Another advantage of providing rides to your neighbor through our program is that we can notify our pool of volunteers for an alternative driver if, at the last minute, you have a change of plans or car problems.

Quick to sign up, Easy to participate
Apply online or by mail. Volunteer drivers are notified via email when a ride is requested in the driver’s area. Drive as little or as much as your schedule permits.

Drive Now, Ride Later
Be a founding volunteer. Help start a reliable and responsive assistive transportation service so that it will be able to help you when it’s your time to need a ride.

Volunteer Driver Qualifications
Volunteer Drivers must be at least 25 years old and possess a current driver’s license, have a safe, insured vehicle, be willing to complete a driver record and criminal background check, and attend an orientation/training session.
